Day Three

We eventually headed over to the Eiffel Tower just a short walk away and it was 10am by now and it was PACKED even though it opened at 9:30. We would have spent all day there so we went along our way and decided to try again the next morning. Bright and early to get in line. Easter is a huge holiday here with a 4 day weekend and it is a very busy time in Paris. We snapped a few more pictures and grabbed a cab to Montmarte and Basilique du Sacré-Cœur. What is there to say about Montmartre? It is first and foremost and amazing view of the city! It has a “neighborhood and community” feel to it. It is so far from the glitz and glamour of the places we had visited previously in Paris. It is commercial, with lots of restaurants and shops but it is also full of artsy, eclectic people!

I met a woman who was designing silver jewelry on the steps of Basilique du Sacré-Cœur and fell in love with a necklace she had made…sitting right there. It is gorgeous and so not me or my style…but I just loved it and I loved the fact that it is a one and only, handmade by this lovely woman in Paris. We bought it and I wore it in Paris and received a lot of compliments on it. Can’t wait to wear it in Egypt. It has a gorgeous Peruvian Turquoise stone…I love love love it! We were walking along and had three sketch artists approach us. Yeah, it is a hustle. They are everywhere but they just started to sketch us and we said why not! Each of the artists did a sketch of each one of us, Aidan was sleeping and they were AMAZING (ok seriously how many time can I use that word!) When they got done the haggling began! They asked for 50 Euros a piece for each sketch….um...no! I mean it took 10 minutes! So we ended up with all 3 for 100 Euros! Not bad and I am going to have them framed and it will always remind us of this day! We love originality!
