The First Birthday has come and gone and we are just doing our day to day thing. Aidan is standing up on his own now, still no steps unless we are holding his hands and this kid can three legged hop (his version of crawl) so fast! He can cover ground in nothing flat! He is becoming a bit clingy again, but from what I read it is normal, he is okay as long as he can see me, but if I get out of his sight he hunts me down and pulls up on my legs and whines until I pick him up. He says "yeah" to everything you say, He says "up" with his hands in the air sometimes and says mama and Dada like crazy. If I am putting him down for a nap, he screams DADA DADA DADA...if we are in the grocery store and he doesn't want to sit in the cart (he wants me to hold him ALL THE TIME and he weighs 22 pounds!) he starts yelling for his Dad, and he does the the same thing only with Mama when Daddy is doing something he doesn't want. He is definitely becoming a toddler, with very own opinions and actions. He is getting better with the biting, he will "pretend" to bite you, and then look up and smile at you. Last night though JR was holding him and we were talking, Aidan wants to be the center of attention and we weren't paying him any attention so he bit JR on the shoulder. He got scolded and told no biting and then we went back to talking and he did it again. Daddy got onto him and he then of course cried and reached for me. It is so hard to turn your back on him when he is doing that, but we have to hold our ground now, otherwise he will be a monster in a year.
He rips through this house in full on destruction mode. He is definitely a boy and watch out! If anything gets in his way he'll just plow it over. He goes 90 miles a minute all of the time and I find myself wondering what in the hell I am going to do when he starts walking. He loves to unload the dishwasher as fast as I can load it, he loves to walk up to my neatly folded laundry and go full on octopus crazy and destroy it. He gets this glint in his eye and this mischievous smile and I can now tell that he is going to do something. The question is can I make it there before he does? His laughs and giggles and kisses (GOD I LOVE THOSE) and hugs light my life.
He hates his highchair and feedings have become chaotic. I am trying to let him self feed a bit, and give him finger foods. The problem is I never know whether he is going to love the waffle I make him the way he did the day before, or turn up his nose, crinkle his eyes and gag because this time he hates it. *Sigh* We are switching from formula to whole milk and he has tolerated the switch very well. He is down to about 3 bottles a day morning, noon and night and I am getting ready to take away the noon bottle and give it to him in a sippy cup and hopefully have him fully weaned off of the bottle in a month or so. He is going to fight me on that though, imagine.
The weather has started to turn and I look forward to our trips home this winter. We are also going to plan a nice sunny tropical vacation in January or Feb. this year and escape from here for a bit. We still haven't been to Paris and I would like to go in the winter, it will be cold but there will be less people and I think we can enjoy things a bit better. Our summer holiday was so great, but it was SO hot and SO many people you could barely move at times.
We are off to Inverness this afternoon, we are going to spend the night, have a nice dinner and even eat at McDonalds! :) JR's daughter is coming in tomorrow from England for a few days and we are looking forward to that.
Better go and clean the oatmeal off of the wall! (oh yeah and the spaghetti I noticed as well!)
