Day 3...Part II

Our intention was to get to the Eiffel Tower when it opened and visit it this day. We stumbled on a Saturday morning market in the heart of Paris that was truly a local affair. It was by far my favorite thing we saw in Paris. They were selling everything from fruit to veggies to clothing to jewelry to flowers…everything you could possible imagine. It was a rainbow of colors under the tents and people were so very kind to us. It was early and there were not a lot of tourists…We came across a couple who were making fresh crepes and I just had to have one. I had a crepe with fromage and jambon (ham and cheese and egg) Watched them make it right in front of me and stood at a table with 4 older Parisian gentleman who we nodded and smiled and said Bon Appetite to one another! It was UNBELIEVABLY good. I wasn’t even hungry but Oh.My.God. It was wonderful. The seafood they had for sale in stalls was beautiful the biggest prawns I have ever seen in my life and huge scallops (and we have big scallops here in Scotland) There was sting ray…fish of every shape and size! Some of you may know that one of the things that freaks me out the most is Fish Eyeballs…well there were a TON of them staring at me. Yuck. I didn’t want to leave, the market was miles long and you know that the local restaurants come here to buy their produce and meat and fish for the week. Everything is cooked fresh! It was truly a unique and amazing experience.
